Define and describe the concept of medical pluralism.
- Medical pluralism is an approach to treatment that employs more than one medical system for one or more conditions at once.
Define and explain the relationship between ontology and epistemology.
- Both are key in giving answers
- Epistemology
- The way we know things.
- Descriptive in nature.
- Ontology
- The way thing really are.
- Binary in nature.
Define and describe the biomedical and biopsychosocial models.
- Biomedical model looks at the physical body and tries to cure the patient with only physical facts
- Biopsychosocial model looks at 3 components to cure the patient:
- “Bio”: Biological => Clinical aspects.
- “Psycho”: Psychological => Individual/personal factors.
- “Social”: Social => Contextual, environmental, and occupational factors.
